We are going to be walking across the country in a month.
Yes, you read that right. We’re almost exactly one month away from starting our walk across the country. Around the first part of June, we’ll start with our feet in the water in San Francisco, California and begin making our way along the American Discovery Trail until we hit the Atlantic Ocean on the coast of Delaware.
We’ve started preparing and gathering some of our gear (once it’s all compiled we’ll be listing it out on the site) and we’ve been mentally preparing as much as possible. For me (Mike), it means multi-hour cram sessions reading survival handbooks. For Lindsie, it means putting up with me telling her every detail about how to avoid bears and how to use mirrors to signal for help in an emergency situation. The good thing is I know she’s loving every second of it (obviously).
Anyway, we’ll have more details soon, but we wanted to share the news and let people know it’s almost time. We’re readily accepting any and all prayers, advice, and general encouragement you feel like giving. There’s definitely a LOT we are still getting squared away, but we’ve already gotten a few sponsors and we’re getting more excited by the day. Minute even.
Feel free to leave a comment of support, any advice you might have about walking across the country, or anything else you want to share. We’ll have more updates coming soon and we hope you’ll follow along. Should be an adventure.

I was driving my red vw van on hwy 50 on 7/18 and saw you guys and asked what you were doing. I was on a southwest trip with my daughters and their friend. The day before I talked to one of my daughters about faith and the existence of a loving higher power. I gave her examples of incidences in my life where I felt and saw the goodness and the protection of this. Im not sure what to call it myself but I sense it overlaps all religions.
The reason I am writing. The next day was 7/18. We were driving down highway 50 near the Utah border heading home to California. The wind gusts were strong and persistent. I was distracted for a moment. When my eyes returned to the road, the van was being forced to the shoulder of the road. I over compensated and the van fish tailed. At one point we were broadside to opposing traffic (no one on the road though). we ended up perpindicular on the opposing shoulder with the van blocking the opposing lane. We were shook but fine.
Later that day, further down hwy 50, at a road that takes you to an earthquake fault, which we just finished visiting, we see Mike and Lindsay. When Lindsey told me why she and Mike were walking across America I was hit with the realization, God was telling me thorugh his messengers, Mike and Lindsey, I was with you when you lost control of the van. And this message is for your daughter that faith is real.

Eddy – Thank you so, so much for finding us and sharing this comment. We realized later that we weren’t even sure if we’d remembered to tell you our website address, so we were blown away when this comment came up from you. You must have done some work to find it, and we appreciate you being so motivated to leave a comment like this. We’re thankful we could be a part of that message to your daughter, and we’re even more thankful you made it home safe and sound. God bless you and your family.
